What Kegelia does, and what it does not.
What Kegelia is.
Kegelia is an iOS app for Kegel exercises, also called pelvic floor training. A glowing jellyfish shows the direction the muscle should move: its bell draws up and in as you lift and opens as you release, with gentle haptics on each lift. Nine programs across three levels, in sessions of one, three or five minutes. It shows the movement; it does not measure the muscle.
What it does.
- Shows the direction
- The jellyfish's bell draws up and in as you lift, and opens as you release, the same way the pelvic floor should move.
- Paces the rhythm
- Each session runs a planned sequence of squeezes and releases, and you follow it.
- Marks each lift with a haptic
- A gentle haptic lands on each lift, so the direction still reaches you with the screen turned away or hidden.
- Counts every attempt
- Kegelia records sessions, minutes and levels, with no streaks and no penalties. Stop after a few lifts and it still counts.
What it does not do.
- It does not measure
- Kegelia does not measure or record a contraction, so it cannot know whether a lift or repetition happened.
- It does not check your technique
- It cannot verify your technique, and it cannot tell whether a lift happened at all.
- It is not biofeedback
- It does not provide biofeedback. There is no sensor, and nothing to buy, wear or insert.
- It is not a medical device
- Kegelia is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition.
- It does not replace a clinician
- It is not a substitute for a pelvic floor physiotherapist, who can examine you and build a plan around what they find.
